Yummy Cookings #1: Kimchi Fried Rice

Lunch Special 6/25/09: Kimchi Fried Rice

Hello,

This was my first attempt to make kimichi fried rice or fried rice in general. I am still new to cooking (well stir frying that is), and my mother rarely lets me cook. I tend to be very clumsy. =) The kimchi fried rice did not turn out to be very good. I made the rice a little too soft, but I now know how to make it better next time. I accidentally added a lot of water, since the rice was sticking to the pan. My mother told me that water is not needed for fried rice, you just have to be very fast and cautious with the stirring. ^o^

Ingredients used:

kimchi (sliced in small pieces)
sesame oil
extra virgin olive oil
soy sauce
white rice
fried fish cakes (sliced in thin pieces)
ham (slices in thin pieces)
1 egg (added a little 1% milk to make it more fluffy)

My Self-Portrait (classwork)

Initially, our teacher from my Advanced Drawing and Painting class told us to draw a portrait of ourselves using a mirror with continuous lines. This was tough since erasing was impossible, and everyone had to start out with sharpie. After the outline of the picture was done, patterns were next on the list. The objective was to create a wide range of patterns with markers and or tissue paper. I mainly used tissue paper as my medium and for my patterns. I used color pencils for the lips and the collar of the shirt. The tissue paper part took a very long time to apply to the picture since I basically hand-ripped everything based on estimatations of the sizes I wanted it to cover on certain areas of my picture. After the picture was completed, everyone had to have some sort of writing along the drawing. It could be anything, ranging from your goals in life, your interests, etc. I completed this on May 18, 2009.

*Pic would be uploaded later, since it be being hanged in our school's threater.
